Nobu Hospitality is heading for the Caribbean

Nothing says "luxury vacation destination" like the name Robert De Niro.

Celebrities have a tendency to spread their influence into other lines of work. Well, the smart ones do, at least. There's a limited shelf life for most entertainers, meaning that their careers may dry up one day whether they want them to or not. And that can be a rough transition for actors, singers, and more who haven't planned ahead. In the case of celebrated actor, Robert De Niro, that is unlikely to be an issue given his impressive business accumen away from the silver screen.

In the 1990s, De Niro partnered with chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa and film producer Meir Tepe to take Matsuhisa's initial Los Angeles restaurant and expand it. Now, there are 56 Nobu locations around the world, making it a highly recognizable brand. And it is all based on Matsuhisa's style of taking Japanese techniques and melding them with Peruvian ingredients.

In 2013, Nobu Hotels was born with the first location in Las Vegas and has since grown to include almost 40 properties in development or open for business. It was recently announced that Nobu Hospitality would be expanding to the Caribbean, specifically the island of Barbuda where a Nobu restaurant is already in operation. The Nobu Beach Inn will have 17 bungalow cottages, a residential component, and a variety of amenities for guests and residents to enjoy.

Located in the eastern Caribbean, Barbuda is half of the twin-island state of Antigua and Barbuda. Like much of the region, this island is known for its natural beauty, has stunning beaches, and access to a range of watersports. Barbuda is also home to incredible unique ecosystems, which include an impressive cave system and the massive Frigate Bird Sanctuary. Because the island is relatively undeveloped, it is viewed as more authentic than other options and a great place to disconnect.
