Visiting Iran can be a challenging experience for a number of reasons. A major issue has long been the inability to access the international credit card system. It doesn't take a lot of effort to see how this could hamper anyone's travel plans. On top of that, Iran lacks a unified currency exchange system. All of this combined can make the financial aspects of visiting the country incredibly problematic, to say the least. But the government is making a move to change that.

Iran is getting ready to introduce a tourist card with the goal of streamlining this entire process for visitors. It will minimize the amount of local currency a tourist will have to carry as well as making it easier to prepare for travel within the country. It is hoped that simplifying this process will make travel to the country more appealing to tourists from around the world.

Additionally, the Iranian government is working on improving diplomatic relations with many countries. The current focus is their neighbor states but success in those endeavors will likely lead to a broader approach to making new friends. A significant number of countries do have travel advisories with varying degrees of severity in place for Iran. Improving diplomatic relations with those countries would go a long way to attracting more tourists to the country.

Famed for its cultural history and archaeological wonders, Iran is home to 28 UNESCO heritage sites. Add into that incredible natural beauty and a surprising food scene, and Iran has the potential to become one of the top tourist destinations of the world. That being said, traveling to Iran still has several challenges, some social and some political. Before making any travel plans, it's always advisable to know the rules and realities of any trips planned to this unique country.
