Five of the best eats in Paris

From pastries to savory pasta dishes, these are some of the best bites in Paris.

Although I was excited to see the Eiffel Tower and The Mona Lisa while in Paris, I was also excited to eat. From pastries to pasta dishes to vegetarian ones, these are some of the best eats I had during my visit to Paris, France

Vegetable Couscous

As far as vegetarian dishes go, the vegetable couscous from Brasserie Lutetia is a must-try. Made with a variety of vegetables from green beans to zucchini to carrots, this dish is hearty and flavorful. It is also made with Berber spices which provide some extra flavor.

Penne With Pesto Rosso

The penne au pesto rosso from the restaurant at Hotel Montalembert was my favorite pasta dish I ate during my week in the City of Love. Made with tomatoes, parmesan, rucola, and grilled pine nuts, this dish was equal parts creamy and savory. Although I ordered this for myself, the portion was large enough to be shared with at least another person.

Cévennes Onion Melted With Farm Cheddar and Puffed Quinoa

If you find yourself near Hotel Vernet, I’d recommend stopping by Le V restaurant for the Oignon des Cévennes fondant au cheddar fermier et quinoa soufflé. I’ve never had an appetizer quite like this one before. The cheese was fresh and the quinoa provided texture to help balance out the cheese. The flavors complemented each other and this starter was filling enough to be satisfying but light enough to not spoil my dinner.

Chocolate Mousse

After seeing so much about the Mousse au Chocolat from Chez Janous on social media, I knew I had to try it. Once ordered, the server approached my table with a large vat of this sweet treat which she carefully plopped onto my plate with a big serving spoon. It is important to note that reservations for this restaurant are encouraged, but difficult to snag. Although I was unable to secure a reservation, I arrived as soon as the restaurant opened and was provided with a walk-in table. To eat this dessert, you must order food.

Croissant

I know you might think that a croissant couldn’t possibly be one of the best things I ate in Paris, but it was. Although I had croissants almost daily during my visit, my favorite was from Cafe de Flore. Not only was this croissant easy to pull apart but it was moist and offered just the right amount of flakiness. Although you can sit inside and dine, I ordered my pastry to go.
