Qantas to launch three ‘Mystery Flights’ to limited travelers

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - SEPTEMBER 24: Hayley Shute hand feeds 'Ember' a male joey at the Australian Reptile Park on September 24, 2020 on the Central Coast, Australia. Park curator and koala carer of 18 years, Haley will hand raise Ember until he is 6 months of age due to his mothers illness . Nine koala joeys have been born as part of the Australian Reptile Park's conservation breeding program this year. The birth of the nine joeys has been celebrated by keepers, as they have been working to increase koala numbers in the wake of Australia's devastating bushfire season at the end of 2019 and early 2020 which saw tens of thousands of koalas perish and habitats destroyed. Currently, Australians are still limited to certain air travel destinations, due to strict pandemic restrictions, and are also being encouraged to travel domestically, should they choose to do so. One way that Qantas Airlines is attempting to make domestic travel seem more appealing, is through what they call their brand new ‘Mystery Flights’.

What’s included in these Qantas ‘Mystery Flights’? Would you take the leap of faith?

For these ‘Mystery Flights’, Qantas is offering its travelers the opportunity to book one of three different journeys that they are (currently) offering. Would you be excited, scared, or a little bit of both to put all of your trust into the airlines?

Each of these trips is a day trip, all lasting just a day, but still ridiculously cool and fun, am I right? Tickets go on sale March 4, so for Australians, they are already on sale (if you’re one of them, jump on this before they’re all sold out)!

The three mystery flights will be flying out of Sydney, Melbourne, and/or Brisbane. Here are the dates to which each of the flights will be departing: March 27, April 18, and finally May 1. Each flight plans on having a capacity limit of 120 passengers, with each mystery destination being just a short 2-ish hours away (perfect).

The trick? You actually won’t know where you’re headed until the descent of your air travel time. On the backs of each of the seats, travelers will have the opportunity to see the path of the flights as they go. Maybe you’ll even be lucky enough to recognize some landmarks to help you figure out the coolest mystery of 2021 (thus far, of course). Would you be able to guess based off of that?

According to their website, here are some clues about departing from Sydney:

"This is the perfect getaway for you if you love:The tropics,Salt water on your skin, andLong lunching on the beach"

According to their website, here are some clues about departing from Melbourne:

"This is the perfect getaway for you if you love:The great outdoors, including a little walking,Gourmet food and wine, andRegional farmers markets"

According to their website, here are some clues about departing from Brisbane:

"This is the perfect getaway for you if you love:Country hospitality,Gourmet food and wine, andThe great outdoors"

This all-inclusive package(s) costs just AUD 737, or in USD $577. That’s somewhere right in between being super expensive and a decent price. But in all honesty, I’d pay the price to go on a ‘Mystery Flight’ to somewhere domestic. Heck, I’d love it if an airline in the US would do this to treat us just a little bit.

Check out this link to see what’s all included in this super cool mystery trip.

Just last year, in fact, Qantas Airlines offered something similar: a 7-hour flight to “nowhere”; this sold out in just a mere old ten minutes. Will they see something similar to these three ‘Mystery Flights’? Who knows!

In other news, this international travel ban will now last through June 17, 2021, while Qantas plans to resume international flights somewhere around the end of October of 2021 (this year).

Which of these ‘Mystery Flights’ sounds the most like your speed? Would you take this super cool leap of faith? Let’s talk down in the comments. Stay safe when traveling, as always.
