There are several places on Earth that are absolutely no-travel zones, many of which are islands. A big one is North Sentinel Island which is part of an archipelago off the coast of India in the Bay of Bengal. It is home to the Sentinelese people who are an indigenous tribe and have had no contact with the outside world. The Indian government protects the island and its people with a five-nautical mile barrier in the water around the island.
The purpose of this is to protect the tribe from the outside world as the Sentinelese people do not have the immunity to deal with modern diseases. Contact with people from other places could quite literally kill the entire population. Despite that, an American tourist Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov decided to go to North Sentinel Island and not for any logical purpose.

Allegedly, Polyakov had visited the Andaman Islands archipelago at least three times. The first two were planning visits to head to North Sentinel. His third trip was on March 29, 2025, when he actually landed on the island and reportedly left drinks for the Sentinelese people. So far, the only reason for this was Polyakov enjoyment of adventures. He has been arrested by Indian authorities and will likely face an incredibly stiff punishment for his thoughtless and selfish actions.
Oddly enough, Polyakov might have actually been lucky. The Sentinelese people are known to be incredibly violent in defense of their home. Outsiders landing on the island are rare but the few who made the journey have not been welcomed. In 2018, John Allen Chau, an American missionary, decided to go to the island to convert the population to Christianity. The Sentinelese people killed him after he made several attempts to land with the assistance of Andaman fishermen.
