Power Up Cafe brings new Mario-themed treats to Universal Studios Hollywood Super Nintendo World
Not to be outdone by sister park Universal Studios Orlando with their announcement of Epic Universe, Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating the first anniversary of Super Nintendo World with the opening of the brand-new Power Up Cafe. That’s enough to make me say “let’s-a go to Universal Studios Hollywood,” but why don’t we lay out a few more details about the new eatery, as well as news about a golden Power Up Band, and a free button?
Located on New York Street on the Upper Lot inside the theme park, the Power Up Cafe will bring the joys of the Super Nintendo World area to the rest of the park. It’s grab-and-go, versus the sit-down restaurant inside the main area, but still features a bunch of delicious sounding offerings, per a release from Universal provided to TripSided.
We’ll post the full list below, but some highlights include a Super Mushroom Calzone, which is shaped like a mushroom but is in fact filled with pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce, Super Star Popcorn, which is buttered popcorn topped with glitter, and Fire Flower Fizz, which is lemon-lime soda with orange popping pearls and mango habanero Fire Flower Power Up.
Anyway, please buy me one of everything, thanks.
The Power Up Cafe will officially open in the park on February 15, 2024. Then on February 17, get ready for some exclusive new merchandise. Universal is releasing two items: a Golden Power-Up Band; and a limited-edition complimentary 1st Anniversary Button.
The button is exactly what it sounds like, and is available at Guest Relations in the park while supplies last. Meanwhile, the Golden Power-Up Band joins six previously released Power-Up Bands and will be available at Super Nintendo World shops throughout the park.
What is a Power-Up Band, you ask? Basically, it’s shaped like a watch and allows you to unlock challenges and gain points throughout Super Nintendo World in order to unlock the chance to defeat Bowser Jr. in a secret challenge. Previous bands include Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Daisy, and Yoshi.
So there you go! Plenty of reasons to visit (or revisit) Super Nintendo World in Los Angeles this month. Don’t be a goomba, start planning your trip now!
