Cedar Point is a theme park in Sandusky, Ohio that has been operating for 154 years. During that time, it has put out some iconic attractions for customers to enjoy. Well, one of those rides is coming to an end. Snake River Falls will soon be closing, bringing an end to the splashes of joy that the ride brought to fans throughout the decades.

The news broke on Friday, with the plan to permanently close the ride on Labor Day, Monday, September 2. The ride first opened in 1993, and at the time it was the tallest, steepest, and fastest water flume ride in the entire world. The closure comes as the park plans to continue expanding in other ways.

Including this ride, Cedar Point currently boasts 72 total attractions. That includes 17 roller coasters and three water rides. At one time, Cedar Point was recognized as the only park in the world that featured five roller coasters that were 200 feet tall or more. It was also the only theme park that had coasters in all four of the height classifications. Amusement Today recognized Cedar Point as the “Best Theme Park in the World” from 1997 to 2013.

Snake River Falls is one of several reasons that Cedar Point became an iconic theme park in the United States. Just as all famous rides eventually do, it is time for Snake River Falls to close down. Riders will have until Labor Day to get a huge thrill and splash before it comes to an end.
