In light of rising issues with younger patrons, Six Flags will put a chaperone rule in place.

Teenagers have always been depicted as an unruly bunch. As there seems to be an uptick in inappropriate behavior within that age group, businesses are responding by implementing chaperone requirements. The popular theme park, Six Flags is among the latest to do such as it rolls out new rules.

Starting on Saturday, September 7 guests ages 15 and younger are required to have a chaperone who is at least 21 years old. The policy will begin on Saturday and will be in effect every day after 5 p.m. This new rule will be enforced every day going forward, and the company can decide to enforce it earlier in the day if necessary.

“In response to the increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior across our industry and at other major entertainment venues, we are taking proactive steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone,” a statement said on the company website.

Chaperones will have to present a valid, government-issued ID before entering the park. For each chaperone, they will be allowed to monitor ten individuals at a time. For example, a group of 20 individuals 15 years old and younger will need to have at least two chaperones aged 21 or older. Those found inside the park without a chaperone may be asked to leave the grounds.

“We believe these changes will help ensure that Six Flags Great Adventure continues to have a positive atmosphere,” the statement continued on the new policy.

Six Flags isn’t the first to implement such a change. Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania instituted a similar rule for guests aged 16 and younger after a series of incidents in previous seasons.
