Until February 6, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET, direct flights from North America to Iceland are only $99, while flights to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Dublin, Stockholm, Frankfurt, or Hamburg are $129, with a stopover in Iceland for Valentine’s Day.
Pretty good deal, but here’s a follow-up question: do you want to travel to Iceland in the middle of February? The answer is yes, actually.
While it’s still going to be plenty cold in February in Iceland, the temperature averages a more equitable 33 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of the “warm” temperatures, this is actually one of the wettest months in the country, with more rain than snow. However, you’ll still see plenty of snowy climes while you don’t totally freeze your butt off.
The better news? This is the perfect time to try and see the Northern Lights, as long as it’s not raining or snowing. The tourist season is mostly over, there’s still plenty of darkness, though it’s becoming lighter more rapidly over the course of the month. And while there’s never any guarantee you’ll catch the Aurora Borealis, February gives you one of the best chances to do so.
