The weather is slowly breaking. Days are longer, and the shining sun inspires people to dream of travel. So where are you going to go? Google Flights is a great tool to research airline tickets and the platform recently revealed which are the most searched destinations as the start of a hot 2024 travel season begins.

Jordan Waller of The Points Guy covered which spots sat at the top of the Google Flights destinations list for 2024. This piece is based on the locations that are most searched by potential travelers in the United States between June 1 to August 31. There are a few surprises on the list and plenty of places that frequent travelers will recognize.

International travelers are making their intentions known to hit popular cities outside of America’s borders. The top ten include London, Paris, Tokyo, Rome, New York City, Cancun, Orlando, Las Vegas, Seattle, and Athens, (no, not Atlanta), but Athens, Greece. That is an understandable mix of cities for those looking to take in culture, food, or party life.

The second ten on the list is made up of the following cities: Los Angeles, Miami, Barcelona, Dublin, Fort Lauderdale, Honolulu, Denver, Madrid, Boston, and San Juan. The US stands tall in this group with seven of the final ten selections.

Google Flights also went as far as to point out the top destinations for both couples and families. Surprisingly, Turks and Caicos was the top selection for both, showing that the beach town isn’t just for love birds. Turks and Caicos is also on the list for solo travelers, but it didn’t make the top three. Those spots went to Bali, Japan, and Acadia National Park in Maine.

This list is a great resource for travelers looking to frequent the most popular destinations. However, it is also a great tool for those looking to avoid crowded areas. Avoiding the hustle and bustle of crowded areas can be equally important, so knowing where not to go is also a big deal.

This travel season is shaping up to be one of the biggest ever as more people are expected to hit the skies, roads, or whatever travel methods they decide. Google Flights is making it easier to plan that trip by not only listing cost-effective airline tickets but also making it clear where everyone else is searching. Use that information as you decide to plan your trips for this spring and summer.
