DreamWorks Land opens at Universal Orlando: Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda, and so much more
We’re still a few months away from the opening of Epic Universe, the wild new theme park from Universal Orlando. But you can kick away your “where’s my new theme park blues” with the news that DreamWorks Land is now open – and Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda are along for the ride. Literally, in some cases.
Located in Universal Studios Florida, the new land features multiple new attractions and character meet and greets, as well as interactive play areas and live shows featuring DreamWorks characters.
First up is Shrek’s Swamp, which features a play area for kids, as well as character meet and greets with Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. Not only that, but there are some wild foods on offer, too, like the Shrekzel – aka, a pretzel shaped like Shrek. You figured that one out, though. There’s also a Swamp Dog, a Far Far A Waffle, and Mud Puddle Pudding. Grub fit for an ogre!
Moving to Trolls, there’s Poppy’s Playground, a magical looking place for the kids to run and play under a large pink tree. But it also featured the Trolls Trollercoaster, a more kid friendly coaster that’s sure to get the kids singing your fave pop tunes. Food-wise you can grab some Trolls Treats in a boombox shaped food stand, featuring Poppy-licious Pink and BroZone Berry ice cream treats. Poppy and Branch are also on hand for character meet and greets.
Then, prepare to get wet with Kung Fu Panda thanks to a water-play area featuring cannons and more – as well as Po Live!, where fans can learn Kung Fu from an interactive, animated version of the master himself.
Not enough? That’s fine, there’s more. DreamWorks Imagination Celebration combines pop songs and dancing with the DreamWorks characters in a “high-energy” show. And Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse is on hand, too. Plus there’s merchandise (of course) featuring Shrek ears, a Minions Bubble Wand, and much more.
The park has also added two more experiences. The first is Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular in Universal Studios Florida. The lagoon show featured “228 fountains that reach heights up to 131 feet, incredible 4K projection mapping,” and an original musical score that pays tribute to Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Jaws, Minions and more. Having seen previous shows of this ilk at Universal: they’re very cool.
Last but not least, there’s a new Hogwarts Castle projection show at the Wizrading World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade, in Islands of Adventure. This features moments from the movies, all projected on Hogwarts Castle.
So who needs Epic Universe when we’ve got DreamWorks Land!
