Inside Out 2 is in theaters today. And if you’re psyched about the movie, here’s a reason to feel more joy than, well, the character Joy: Disneyland is celebrating the new movie with a slew of experiences, merchandise, and even the chance to meet Anger in person. You know, if you don’t do that a lot anyway.
The new offerings are already in the park, so if you’re headed that way today, great news: no action items on your plate here. Go, and brush that sadness away (even though as we all know from the original movie, sadness is as much a part of life as joy).
That said, here’s what to expect, per PR sent to TripSided.
First up is a brand new drawing activity at the Animation Academy. Under the guidance of a real artist, you’ll learn how to draw Anger, Sadness, Joy, and the brand-new character Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke in the movie. Hawke won’t be there, probably, but you can softly sing “Dear Alien” under your breath while you draw, regardless. Nobody will stop you!
Next up, at the brand new Pixar Place Hotel, you can check out maquettes featuring Anxiety, as well as fellow emotional newcomers Ennui and Embarrassment. Panels of artwork from the sequel will also be on display, appropriately on the second floor of the hotel, for a limited time.
Moving on to merch, if you check out the Medallion Machine in Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, you might be able to snag an Inside Out 2 medallion. And at locations in and around the park, you might be able to get some Inside Out 2 items like an Anxiety Straw Clip. Food items include a Sadness Cheesecake, available until June 29 at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, which is a “cotton candy cheesecake with blue mouse and blue memory orbs;” and from June 30 through August 18, at the same location, you can snag a Joyful Cheesecake which is a “yellow pineapple cheesecake with white and blue mouse.”
Other highlights of the Inside Out 2 offerings include a lens on Disney Photopass featuring characters from the movie, if you’ve purchased the Genie+ service. There’s also an Emotional Rollercoaster, a water short presented ahead of the World of Color - ONE presentation, and more as Pixar Fest continues through August 4, 2024.
So, don’t be sad! Or feel anxiety! Head to Disneyland, where Joy lives. And Anger. Don’t forget about Anger.
