The CrowdStrike technology outage over the weekend impacted travelers all around the world. Several businesses are still struggling with the aftermath days after. Many of the airlines impacted are recovering, except for Delta Air Lines which is getting criticism as it continues to fall short days later.

“One of our crew tracking-related tools was affected and unable to effectively process the unprecedented number of changes triggered by the system shutdown, said Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian. “Our teams have been working around the clock to recover and restore full functionality.”

This statement comes days after the CrowdStrike system update left thousands of flights canceled throughout the weekend. Major airlines like United, JetBlue, and American are still dealing with flight delays, but those companies have been able to curtail the number of canceled flights. Delta Air Lines is failing in that regard. According to flight tracking service, Flight Aware, 43 percent of Delta’s flights have been delayed and 24 percent were canceled as of Monday, July 22. Of the 9,382 delays flying within, in, or out of the United States, 1,641 were attributed to Delta Airlines.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg had quite a bit to say about the situation facing Delta Air Lines on Sunday.

“No one should be stranded at an airport overnight or struck on hold for hours waiting to talk to a customer service agent,” Buttigieg said on social media Sunday evening. “We have received reports of continued disruptions and unacceptable customer service conditions at Delta Air Lines, including hundreds of complaints filed with the US Department of Transportation. I have made it clear to Delta that we will hold them to all applicable passenger protections.”

Passengers continue to take to social media to present their stories of being stranded at airports without any hope of getting decent customer service. Some stranded passengers have been told that they may not be able to get a flight to their destination until Wednesday or Thursday.
