If you are interested in venturing to Guatemala, the good news for West Coast based American travelers is that both Delta and Alaska Airlines have picked up the frequency of their direct flights, so you should be able to book travel with little to no problem.

That said: the US government has a travel advisory on Guatemala because of crime, which hasn’t seemingly hasn’t been updated since last July. Most of the country was on a Level 3, meaning “reconsider travel,” while certain areas were on a Level 4, meaning “do not travel.” Point being, before you book this one you might want to do a little more research.
