Avianca Airlines will be resurrecting a a connection between Chicago's O'Hare Airport and El Dorado Airport in Bogota, Colombia starting on October 27. The Colombian-based airline last flew to O'Hare in 2019.

The flight between O'Hare (ORD) and El Dorado (BOG) will be a non-stop adventure with flights operating daily. The plane that will be used for the route will be an Airbus A320, giving Avianca a passenger capacity of 180. It is not known at this time which of the two A320 class (A320-200 and A320neo) that Avianca owns will be operating the route.

The flight schedule will consist of the morning sector as Flight AV262 from El Dorado Airport in Bogota to O'Hare in Chicago with a take-off time of 7:00 a.m., and arriving at 1:15 p.m. After a refresher and refueling, the plane will return to Bogota as Flight AV263 leaving O'Hare at 2:45 p.m. and arriving in the Colombian capital at 8:25 p.m.

Avianca Airlines currently has 12 other U.S. destinations on its flight plans. The other destinations in the United States are Boston Logan, Dallas-Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Houston Bush, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, Ontario, Orlando, San Francisco, and Washington Dulles.

In advance of the re-established route, Avianca Airlines has opened up booking for flights to and from Chicago O'Hare and Bogota El Dorado.

In May, Avianca and Emirates entered into a codeshare agreement, which allows a seamless process for passengers to make a connection to and from Colombia, Europe, and the Middle East. The Colombian cities included in that agreement are Bogota, Medellin, and Cali.
