Budget travelers looking to hit new destinations have a new option as Avelo announced new flight options throughout the United States and beyond.
Starting November 14, the airline has announced new service options that include flights to New Orleans and Puerto Rico starting from the East Coast. Nonstop flights between Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) will be the first to launch. The new route will operate on Thursday and Sunday, using a fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. The flights are scheduled to depart from New Haven at 7 a.m. and land in New Orleans at 9:29 a.m. The return flights will leave New Orleans at 10:14 a.m. and land in New Haven at 2:21 p.m.
The announcement of the new flights comes with a special discounted rate of $79 for one-way travelers for a limited time only.
“Avelo is proud to be Connecticut’s airline and continue growth in New Haven with a new route to New Orleans, plus more Puerto Rico flights this winter and increased customer capacity,” said Avelo CEO Andrew Levy in a statement shared with Travel & Leisure. “With 27 nonstop destinations to choose from at Tweed, it’s easier than ever for travelers to experience our convenient, affordable, and reliable air service.”
This new flights to Puerto Rico are set to begin on November 8. Currently, Avelo offers two fights per week to the popular destination, but that will increase to four. The routes will be available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
These changes come at a time in which Breeze Airways is preparing to launch as a competitor to Avelo. The new low-cost option is set to begin operation out of New Haven, where Avelo was the sole provider, later this year.
