Novel Travels blends tourism with literature

Literature can be the ultimate escapism. And books often take readers to new and far away locations. Inspired by both a deep love of reading and travel, Florida travel professional Corinne Levine created Novel Travels—specially curated literary travel trips.

Merging the worlds of literature and exploration, the concept offers book lovers the chance to visit the inspiration and real-life locations of their favorite novels. Novel Travels aims to bridge the gap between the fictional settings of beloved stories and the actual destinations where they are set, allowing travelers to experience these places firsthand.

Started by a seasoned luxury travel advisor, Novel Travels was inspired by the founder’s own love of reading and travel. The company specializes in offering custom itineraries as well as pre-set tours allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the settings of literary works. From wandering the streets of a European city featured in a historical novel to exploring the landscapes of a fantasy series in Nepal, the goal is to transform literary dreams into real-life adventures.

“As an avid reader, I was always transported to incredible locales through the pages of my favorite books. This combination of storytelling and wanderlust sparked the idea for Novel Travels, where I could help others step into the scenes of the books they love,” Levine said.

Curated and personalized

One hot feature is curated group trips, meticulously planned by Levine and, when possible, hosted by the author of the novel being explored. Itineraries in development include trips with authors such as Fiona Davis, whose books are set in iconic New York City landmarks; Jo Piazza, author of The Sicilian Inheritance set in Sicily; and Barbara Linn Probst, whose novel The Color of Ice takes place in Iceland.

Novel Travels offers a range of personalized experiences, including bespoke literary journeys tailored to each traveler’s favorite books and genres. These custom itineraries are created through a detailed consultation process where travelers discuss their literary preferences. The company designs a journey following the footsteps of beloved characters or authors, incorporating private tours, unique accommodations, and activities aligning with the themes of the chosen novels.

For readers seeking a deeper experience, Novel Travels also provides immersive literary-themed adventures. These trips allow travelers to visit locations inspiring key scenes in the books, meet local experts who can provide insights into the setting, and even participate in workshops or classes connected to the story’s themes. Travelers may also dine at restaurants featuring dishes mentioned in the novels or engage with the local literary community.

All are welcome

In addition to solo adventures for introspective readers, the company’s small group trips are tailored for book clubs and literary circles. Plus, Novel Travels offers family-friendly itineraries inspired by children’s books. Going beyond merely visiting locations, the company embraces cultural tourism by connecting travelers with the culture and history, opportunities to engage in book-related charitable activities, and exploring the broader literary heritage of a destination.

Through a partnership with Eltee Travel, a Virtuoso agency and part of the Global Travel Collection, the company handles all logistical arrangements, including flights, hotels, on-site tours, and, when possible, meetings with authors.

“By focusing on each traveler’s specific literary interests, we create a deeply personal and meaningful experience that brings their favorite books to life,” Levine said.
