Luxembourg is a small landlocked country crammed between Germany, Belgium, and France. It's one of the smallest countries in Europe, both in size and in population. At the same time, it has a rich history, is the home to several EU institutions, and has an incredibly strong economy.

Despite that, Luxembourg hasn't been a big tourist draw, probably because people outside of Europe weren't widely aware of the country. That has been changing since the pandemic as Luxembourg's tourist numbers have been rising. If you're planning a trip, there are a few places you should go.

Place d'Armes

Like many European cities, central squares plays a key role in Luxembourg City. One of the more popular central squares among tourists is Place d'Armes. It's a marvelous place to take a break from sightseeing and enjoy one of the many restaurants and cafes. This is an opportunity to absorb the everything that makes Luxembourg so appealing.

National Museum of History and Art

Luxembourg is respected throughout Europe for its art scene. At the core is the National Museum of History and Art which is home to an incredible collection of art and artifacts. It's a wonderful way to take in the country's history. The building itself is a work of art, containing exhibits that examine Luxembourg from a variety of angles.

Hohllay Caves

For centuries, one of Luxembourg's big industries was mining which went on for centuries until recently. Hohllay Caves were left behind by those same mining activities. Surrounded by an untouched forest landscape, these caves are stunning and fun to explore. Just remember that safety comes first and don't forget that they can be a little bit like a maze.

Moselle Valley

Right along the border with Germany is the Moselle Valley, home to Luxembourg's wine country. It is the type of picturesque valley you envision when you think of Europe. Only a small section of the valley is in the country but what they have is filled with prestigious wineries. All you need to do is follow the wine route and enjoy.

The Grund

The lower part of Luxembourg City is known as the Grund. Charming and relaxed, is harkens back to an older era of both the country and Europe as a whole. Despite that vintage vibe, it's actually home to the most vibrant nightlife scene in the city. On top of that, it's home to quaint restaurants, cafes, and shops, all of which are worth exploring.
