The NBA is at an all-time high level of worldwide popularity thanks to rosters of talented players and some surprisingly affordable tickets. But some experiences are definitely more affordable than others as going to a game in New York or Los Angeles is going to come with higher travel expenses.

Naturally, stadium food is never cheap and the cost of getting there depends highly on how far you have to travel. Keeping that in mind, these cities remain some of the best value for getting to see an NBA game. And that's even when their teams are on fire.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minneapolis/St. Paul is arguably one of the most underrated urban areas in the US. There's a lot to see and do, plus incredible access to the state's natural wonders. On top of that, their airport is a major hub which makes it easy to get there. The Timberwolves are one of the hottest teams in the league, so the cheap seats are usually in the $35.00 to $40.00 range.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavs are having an incredible 2024/25 season, having started with 15 straight wins. They only recently recorded their first loss which was against the reigning NBA Champions, the Boston Celtics. Despite being one of the hottest teams in the league, ticket prices start at $25.00. Cleveland is also a highly affordable city to visit with a lot to see and do, and a great food scene to boot.

Charlotte Hornets

There was a few years when the Hornets were gone from Charlotte but their return to North Carolina was definitely welcomed. With Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball leading the charge, their home games are absolutely electric. Tickets get as low as $20.00, which is a steal. Plus, Charlotte is a gorgeous city with reasonably priced accommodations and great restaurants.

Detroit Pistons

The last few seasons haven't exactly been great for the Motor City's favorite basketball team. So far, 2024/25 has been looking better than 2023/24, though that isn't a huge bar to get over. But if you're looking for an inexpensive NBA trip, checking the Detroit Pistons out might be the right call for you. The city still has a lot to offer and tickets can get as low as $15.00.

Indianapolis Pacers

Over the last few years, the Pacers have built a deep roster with Tyrese Haliburton as their big star. Many analysts and fans feel its not if this team can win a championship so much as it is when. Despite the high caliber team, tickets in the upper deck start at $14.00. Plus, Indianapolis is basketball central and a highly affordable travel destination.
