The best of Brazil’s lesser-known beaches
By FanSided
When people think about Brazil, the first image that tends to come to mind is a beach. The idea of a beautiful beach packed with people relaxing in skimpy bikinis is one of the country’s biggest draws. It’s true that Brazil’s most famous beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world, but they’re also some of the most packed. If you stick to the most famous beaches, you’re not going to get the best experience possible.
For that, you need to look at some of the less famous beaches, and we’ve prepared a list to point you in the right direction.
Joatinga Beach
Many of Brazil’s most beautiful and relatively untouched beaches are this way because they take some effort to reach. This is the case with Joatinga, you aren’t going to pull off the highway and step out onto the sand.
You have to drive carefully through a forest, trusting that you will reach the beach. It can be a little tricky for people who aren’t used to traveling through Brazil, but the reward is worth the effort.
The forest you have to pass through acts as a beautiful backdrop and the beach is in a bay that keeps the water as inviting as possible.
Praia do Forno Beach
One of the things you’ll find is that the farther out you go from Rio de Janeiro and other major metro areas the smaller the crowds are.
To reach Praia do Forno you have to travel a few hours away from Rio to get to the city of Arrail and then take a boat or a hike to get to the beach. Is it quick and easy?
Not compared to other destinations, but that’s what makes it so great. The combination of the beautiful white sand and the peaceful blue water will make you forget about the journey you took to get there.
And if you have the right vehicle you might find you enjoy traveling to Arraial, the trip is a great way to see Brazil up close.
Praia do Secreto Beach
This beach isn’t as secluded as some of the other beaches on our list, but it’s still worth noting.
If you want to get a look at the peaceful side of Rio, then this is still the place to be, even if more and more people are discovering this beach every year.
This is a unique beach because it surrounds a sort of natural bowl that allows people to get the pool experience in a natural environment.
It’s also one of the best places to find naturally warm water in the Rio area.
