By FanSided
Sao Paulo may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Brazil, but it’s much more fun than you can imagine. It features some of the best restaurants, best nightlife, best bars, a wide variety of alternative cultures and the best selection of museums in the country. Here are some tips on places to visit when in SP.
1. São Paulo Museum of Art
Better known as MASP, the São Paulo Museum of Art features one of the best collections of national and international art in the entire country. The building was designed by the great Lina Bo Bardi herself. The structure is an epitome of the Brutalist style, made entirely of glass and concrete. It is suspended above the road by four enormous beams, making it seem like it’s floating. The main gallery is a spacious, open-plan room. Bo Bardi designed the glass cases displaying the pieces of the permanent collection there.
2. Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM)
The Modern Art Museum or MAM stands on the grounds of the gorgeous Ibirapuera Park. This is among the oldest modern art museums on the entire continent. Another building designed by Lina Bo Bardi, this museum has an awe-inspiring collection of modern pieces as well as fabulous temporary exhibitions.
3. Red Bull Station
The Red Bull Station is housed in a place that used to be a power station. It is a new and unique space in the city that combines history, art, and gastronomy. With several temporary exhibitions, a nice café, and five stories, it’s a great place to stop by for a rest during a busy day out. The rooftop terrace, offering great views of the bustling downtown, is particularly beautiful.
