I-74 runs through the state of North Carolina from Charlotte on the west side to Wilmington on the ocean’s edge in the east. In between is the best ice cream you can get.

Admittedly, I haven’t tried all of the ice cream shops throughout North Carolina so I am pretty certain that someone may take offense to me calling the Pee Dee Peach ice cream stand the best, but it’s the best I have had.

Homemade ice cream is a true delight and they make theirs on site. I tried the apple pie ice cream initially and while it was really good, I was jealous that my wife and kids all had the peach and I did not. It was that good.

Unlike the apple pie cream which was too sweet for my tastes but did taste like an apple pie, the peach ice cream was smooth with small bits of peach throughout. It had a delicate balance to it and every bite felt as though it was cleansing my palate.

Each bite of the peach was incredible and when my offered a bite, I took it every time without feeling bad for taking it.

The stand sells other items as well and the couple in front of us walked out with a peach pie that ran them about $10.00. They have honey and different types of drinks as well.

The stand is located just past the Pee Dee River and it’s hard to miss but if you do, you can easily do a quick turnaround. If you are heading down I-74 in either direction, it’s a great place to stop and treat the kids. We were able to get four small bowls and a cone for $10.00 and it was worth every penny.
