Legoland New York is open with a hotel resort on the way

While other theme park resorts like Disney and Universal Studios get a lot of attention, Legoland has become an excellent alternative. And these parks are not just for Lego fans. They have a lot of great amenities for everyone and anyone, particularly at the new location in New York.

Legoland New York recently opened for business, making it a prime destination for Lego fans just outside of the Big Apple. That being said, the resort hotel isn’t quite open, yet. But it will be soon, offering a year-round option for people to enjoy.

Legoland New York opens

A lot of people don’t know how far back Legoland actually goes and think it’s a more recent phenomenon. The very first theme park and resort opened in Billund, Denmark in 1968. It’s actually quite close to the original Lego factory.

Now, there are ten different Legoland parks and resorts around the world with an additional five either planned or under construction. That includes an upcoming resort in Shenzen, China that is reputed to be the largest of its kind in the world.

Legoland New York is the most recent addition to the roster, its gates opening to the general public on May 29, 2021. The theme park is located in Goshen. You could be forgiven for not knowing where that is, but it’s about an hour northwest of New York City.

If you don’t count Legoland Water Park Gardaland, this is the ninth park to be opened worldwide. It’s also the third in North America, with parks in California and Florida preceding it. This one has a lot of familiar attractions as well as a few new tricks.

Plans for the Legoland Hotel

As is the case with most large-scale parks, Legoland New York has a variety of areas that have their own themes. There are several here, including Pirates, City, Castle, Bricktopia, and Ninjago World. But there is one thing missing at the moment.

The Legoland Hotel wasn’t ready to open with the rest of the park back in May. This came as a bit of a surprise to fans who were planning their first trips as many were hoping to stay on site. That doesn’t mean there isn’t one on the way, though.

At the moment, the Legoland Hotel is currently scheduled to open on August 6, 2021, which isn’t that far away at this point. By the time you read this, it may even be up and running. And it has some great amenities that will make it worth the stay.

Each of the 250 rooms is split into four different Lego themes. There is also a heated pool as well as a walkway that connects the hotel directly to the front entrance of the theme park itself. But there’s also one key feature that makes this hotel important.

A year-round option

The simple reality of the situation is that Legoland New York is an outdoor theme park in the Northeast of the United States. While the winters there aren’t the coldest in North America by far, they can still be pretty serious business in that part of the world.

As such, this is not a year-round park like the ones in Florida and California. It will only be open for the warmer portions of the year, from spring to fall. Legoland Hotel, on the other hand, will be open throughout the year.

This is a venue that Lego fans will be able to enjoy whenever they want. While you won’t be able to enjoy the park in January, you will at least be able to stay in a Lego-themed room for a few nights with relatively easy access to New York City.

That being said, if you’re still jonesing for the full Legoland experience, there are two other parks in the US open year-round.  But the overall experience of the New York park looks amazing, particularly in the summer months, and the hotel will only enhance that.
