5 ways to eat healthy when you are on a road trip with the family

Bring your own
Nothing wrong with packing your lunch for work right? So why not pack a cooler for the road? Snacks will curtail the need to feed and will also take away those urges when the billboard is dripping with BBQ sauce. Light, healthy snacks are a perfect way to keep hunger at bay and you can go even further by bringing along your own meals as well.
Sandwiches on whole-grain slices of bread are perfect for the road and give you what you need to push through to your destination. In addition, you made it yourself so you are not telling someone else what you don’t want on it. Pack it with lettuce and extra pickles if you desire and make sure there are no mayonnaise and tomatoes if you don’t like them.
Bringing your own food makes you the boss but don’t forget about the kids. Making the kids their own lunches for the road is often fun and you can get creative before you leave. Make chicken nuggets before you leave the driveway and now you are not stopping and being tempted by the burger joints. They may not like it but a bag of carrot slices over fries?, they will thank you someday.
