Miami is one of the top destinations in Florida, if not the entirety of the United States. It’s unique blend of cultures have turned it into an incredible destination for a variety of reasons, particularly people who love to eat.

While there are a lot of great regions in Miami to go for food, the SoFi neighborhood, aka South of Fifth, has to be high on your list. It offers a unique blend of dining options to choose from, some of which can only be found in this area.

There are restaurants that regularly pop up on lists of places visitors to Miami have hit up when in town. Joe’s Stone Crab definitely appears on several such lists with great frequency, and for good reason. The food is outstanding.

This is definitely a highlight of SoFi, one that falls into the “can’t miss” category of your itinerary. It’s roots go all the way back to the 1920s, with marvelous menu that made the Florida Stone Crab famous to people from around the world.

The Lobster Shack

With two locations in Miami, The Lobster Shack does a pretty solid job of providing great seafood to the city. It’s not the only option for seafood by far, but it does offer up some great eats, particularly at their SoFi location.

It has a classic raw bar, as one would expect. But it also has a solid menu of soups and salads inspired by the sea, not to mention some superb seafood tacos and surprising array of seafood rolls. Plus, any place you can get Clam Chowder or Lobster Bisque as a side is alright by me.

Seawell Fish n’ Oyster

Yes, this is the third seafood spot on this list. But if you’re going to spend time in Miami you had better be taking advantage of the outstanding seafood restaurants available across the city. If don’t hit up at least one, you are absolutely missing out.

If you’re interested in something a bit different from the seafood recommendations on this list, look not further than Lilikoi Organic Living. Located in Portofino Towers, Lilikoi is within easy walking distance of South Pointe Park and South Pointe Beach.

This restaurant creates food that is made with locally sourced, organic ingredients, cooked with a touch of Hawaiian flair. It’s good food that tastes good, and makes you feel better about yourself. Definitely try the Sourdough Pancakes with house made Nutella, banana and coconut whip cream.

Azabu Miami Beach

Nine times out of ten, eating in the hotel restaurant is a safe choice but not a particularly interesting or adventurous one. But Azabu Miami Beach is more that worth checking out, even if you’re not staying in the Marriott Stanton in South Beach.
