Spaceship Earth is the big Epcot ball and you can’t miss it. It is a slow-moving continual car ride that takes you inside and through history. There has been a lot of talk about this closing down for a refurbish and it does really need to be redone.

The ride is voiced over by Judy Dench and has been since 2008. Walter Cronkite was also at one time a “host” for the ride and we would expect that following the refurbishment, a new “host” will takeover.

The ride was first opened in October of 1982 and has gone through several renovations.

The wait time for the ride is dependant on the time of year and number of park guests. Typically, wait times will run from 10:00 to as many as 45:00. If you haven’t been on it and see a 10:00 minute wait you should jump on it. The wait time isn’t bad because the ride constantly moves and you get on and off as the ride progresses. Unless of course there is a problem or a wheelchair needy guest and then ride will stop for a few moments.

It’s a great ride to get out of the sun and more importantly, a great place to get a cranky kid to fall asleep for about 15:00 minutes.

Coming in at 15:00 minutes, the ride is one of the longest in the entire park and would probably push every other ride in Walt Disney Parks in Orlando. Despite its age, it remains one of my kids favorites.

Thrill factor: This is the 2nd lowest of all park rides

Entertainment value: It’s a simple yet fun trip through history into the future.

Wait time: Probably the 2nd lowest in the park

Must ride: Yes if just to say you went into the Epcot ball.

Fast Pass worthiness: No unless you can’t get passes for anything else.

Location: You can’t miss it but it is towards the front of the park
