This “Mindful Retreat” in Canyon Lake, Texas is on Mindy Kaling’s Airbnb wishlist

Ever wondered where your favorite celebrity would want to travel to for a vacation retreat? Well thanks to Mindy Kaling’s Airbnb wishlist we have some ideas.

As part of Airbnb’s new Wishlist series, we are getting a look at some unique destinations with a similar theme. And whether that is their Pastoral Places, Design in the Wild, or even their Happy Campers destinations, we are here for these unique Airbnb locations and stays. So of course when we saw that there was a wishlist titled Mindful Retreats by Mindy Kaling, we had to check it out.

With a wide variety of destinations to choose from, I couldn’t help but be enamored with SKYHOUSE Canyon Lake, a villa in Canyon Lake, Texas that offers not only lake views, but also a private pool. According to People Magazine, Kaling chose places that have a focus “on escaping into nature.”  She also explained that when choosing places to visit/stay, “my favorite places need to be nicer than my home.”

So what is it about SKYHOUSE that not only called to the actress, but also has us ready to plan our next road trip?

Mindy Kaling’s Airbnb wishlist includes this Texas retreat

This particular Airbnb offers visitors three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with room for up to 10 guests in total. However, it is this description from the booking page that really has us hooked:

"Set on a steep slope in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, the ultra-modern SKYHOUSE is an engineering marvel with sweeping views of Canyon Lake and the surrounding landscape.The multi-level house makes a carefully crafted design statement, with a stunning metal exterior and a light-filled interior. Features include exposed brick, granite, hardwood floors, and accents such as old maps and side tables made from vintage US Air Force radar equipment cases."

The fact that this Airbnb has a pool and a hot tub is just the icing on the cake when it comes to this epic destination that will have you wishing you could stay longer. And while the $539 per night fee might have us pinching our pennies for a bit, one look at the views and the house itself will convince us that this is a retreat that is worth the cost. (Grab nine of your closest friends and the cost won’t even matter!)

We think Mindy Kaling is on to something with this wishlist find and we are here for it. In fact, we plan to check out every one of the Airbnb locations she shared just so we can plan our next few getaways!
