Saskatoon, Saskatchewan isn’t a vacation destination that most people would pick. But the city and region do have a lot of offer, including the popular and historic Wanuskewin Heritage Park. Saskatoon is also a great place get your food on.

Like many midwestern cities across North America, the food scene in Saskatoon is constantly evolving. There are a wide range of spots to get a bite to eat while you’re in town, many of which will not break the bank.

Talayah’s Southern Grill

A relative newcomer to the Saskatoon’s roster of magnificent restaurants, Talayah’s Southern Grill delivers some excellent southern soul food to a city that definitely needed a place like this. It is comfort food at its absolute finest.

While Chef Stackz’s specials are constantly rotating, make sure you stop in if you see him post about biscuits and gravy on social media. If it’s not available, just have the fried chicken. It will change your life.

Bon Temps Cafe

For nearly ten years in Downtown Saskatoon, Bon Temps Cafe has been bringing Cajun and Creole cooking to the city. It wasn’t the first restaurant to do this but it is arguably the best. And it has the Mint Juleps to back that claim up.

This is one of those places where the entire menu is solid all the way through. In particular, it’s a great place for a Po Boy, not to mention some superb jambalaya. If you book in advance, they’ll even throw down a Low Country Boil for you.

The Pitch Kitchen

This spot used to do business out of the local Rugby Club building. But it moved to it’s own location deep on the West Side of town, and changed its name to The Pitch Kitchen. Regardless of where the restaurant is located or what it’s called, the food is amazing.

The Pitch Kitchen is takeout and delivery only, so this great food will come to you. There are a lot of outstanding choices but if you happen to be around for Fry Bread Friday, make sure you order one of their burgers on fry bread. They simply cannot be missed.

If you can’t wait for Fry Bread Friday, just give Bannock Express a call and get yourself a brilliant burger basically every day of the week. This is one of those spots where you just have to know about. And once you do, you’re in store for some truly great eats.

There are an incredible range of burgers to choose from, each one of them served on some delectable bannock. This restaurant is not screwing around. They just make good, legit food that virtually anyone will love.

When it comes to delicious smoked meats, it’s hard to beat Schryer’s Smoked BBQ in Saskatoon. They’ve been in business in one form or another for years in the city, establishing themselves as a pick up and delivery favorite.

The menu is filled with assorted meats like pulled pork and brisket. But a great go to is the Schryer Fries which consists of coleslaw, pulled pork or beef, your choice choice of smoked cheese and the house BBQ sauce over fresh cut fries. Make sure you get some cornbread to go with it.
