The Italian city of Venice has always had an allure to it but this pandemic has been a thorn in the side of tourism. That doesn’t mean you can’t still go.

It doesn’t have the well-known history of Rome or Florence. It doesn’t have the economic pull of Milan or the slanted buildings of Pisa. It doesn’t even have the same population of natural-born Italians in the city that other major areas have! In fact, Venice has recently seen a lot of Italian people moving out of the city and back onto the mainland.

Yet, this city is an incredible destination for many travelers for a variety of reasons, including its incredible picturesque views and the one-of-a-kind nature of everything Venetian. There truly is no place like it on the planet and it is a must-see on any traveler’s list.

Many tourists come to Venice through cruise ships that spend up to a singular day in the city and this type of trip, unfortunately, leaves a lot to be desired. Similar to other major cities in Italy, Venice, the city itself can’t be taken in properly in a 24 hour period, especially if you want to go to some of the other islands in the Venetian lagoon, like Murano and Burano.

If you are considering a trip to Italy post-pandemic, here are three reasons why the city of Venice should move up to the top of your bucket list.
