For many Americans, the thought of visiting a foreign country like Germany is something they can’t do or can’t afford but there are options, like Helen, Georgia.

Helen, Georgia is an American town that is all Germany. Located in Northeast Georgia, this Bavarian modeled town brings you so much more than shopping. Taste the authenticity of Germany with flavors born from the country itself.  If German-inspired foods are not your favorite, fear not, Helen has a quaint mix of southern cuisine as well.

The town is complete with Bavarian-styled architecture and you are whisked into another country when you arrive. Grab a float and ride down the Chattahoochee or shop the “more than 200” German specialty shops.

These shops are one of the draws of Helen offering cuckoo clocks, candle making, and more.

Hiking trails, zip lines, and Anna Ruby Falls offer something for the outdoor adventurer and even those who are a bit less experienced.

Plenty of options are available for your stay as well. Valhalla Resort Hotel is a high-end luxury hotel with a rooftop bar, Heidi Motel and Windmill Suites offer a more Alpine theme.

The fact that you can experience a Bavarian town in the middle of the U.S. south is pretty impressive and should be a great stop for you and your families.

Make sure to try Bodensee Restaurant that is the most traditional of German cuisine in the town. The place features just about everything you would want to eat if you traveled there yourself.

Sadly, you eventually have to leave and once you are outside the city limits, you will be wanting to get back out of the country!
