There is more to Tampa Bay than just the Super Bowl

Tampa Bay, Florida is a beautiful city that gets better with beaches and sunny skies. Even with a cold front moving across the country, there is plenty to do while you are there whether you plan to attend the Super Bowl or not.

Tampa is only an hour and a half from Orlando and the theme park capital of the world. Yet, there is plenty to do in the Florida west coast city. This weekend the city will host the Super Bowl but these things you can do 365 days of the year!

Hillsborough River Walk – The downtown area of Tampa features a 2.5-mile walk around the Hillsborough River. Along the walk, you will pass through the art district, Hixon Park, and more. Take in a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants and cafes. Want to get on the water? The river features water bike rentals.  Need to get out of the city? The Hillsborough River State Park offers a respite from the grind.

White sandy beaches – Clearwater Beach is a pristine white sandy beach along the Gulf of Mexico coast just south of Tampa Bay. The crystal clear water is a perfect place to off-beach snorkel and swim, for the entire family. Stick around and watch the sun go down in brilliant shades of red and orange! For an off the path beach treat, head to Fort De Soto Park for nature trails and more white-sand beaches.

Aquariums – There are several options if visiting aquariums is your cup of tea! The Florida Aquarium is a nice visit as is the Mote Aquarium and Marine Sanctuary in Sarasota. In Clearwater, you can visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and meet Winter, the rescued dolphin featured in the movie Dolphin Tale.

Local flavors – From local micro-breweries to seafood, there are plenty of options to taste the history of the coastal metropolis.

Theater – The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is a fantastic off-broadway theater that offers Broadway shows, concerts, and more!
