Brightline and Disney have agreed to connect South Florida with Disney Springs.

There isn’t much to know yet about the new agreement between the house of mouse and Brightline but a new train station is coming to Disney Springs.

Earlier this month, Brightline and Disney announced a plan to connect South Florida with a new rail station that will be located in Disney Springs. The future rail high-speed rail line will connect Miami to Tampa Bay via an east coastal route than through the center of the state to Disney Springs and finally to Tampa Bay.

Disney Springs makes a lot of sense for the station if Disney is going to have a station. For starters, it is a hub for all of the parks when you consider that busses are available for every park and every hotel from the Disney Springs transportation depot. We can assume that rail will be somewhere near that location.

At first thought, it may feel like this is a way to continue to overcrowd the parks once they are back at full capacity. South Florida pass holders or even single or multi-ticketed guests could easily get to the parks in far less time than it would take to get there driving. That being said, it could also equal out as some out-of-state and even out-of-country guests now have more options as well.

The rail, once completed sometime in 2022, will allow Disney visitors to get away for a day or maybe two, and hit South Florida to expand their vacation. This is good for travelers arriving by air and overseas travelers who may have in the past skipped visiting other parts of the state.

With the final stop, for now, in Tampa Bay, it opens more visitation opportunities. There is no timeline for completion but the trains are expected to run around 125 miles per hour. 236 miles are separating Orlando and Miami which on paper would put the ride around two hours but with other stops i, you would still be looking at around three. Which is still great for a stress-free visit in either direction.
