Good news has come to Disney World and Mickey Mouse as park-hopper passes are returning.

Walt Disney World is going to kick off the new year with a big change to their park pass policies and fans of the parks should be very excited!

Since the outbreak of COVID and the shuttered theme parks across Orlando, phased openings at the parks including a Walt Disney World restriction that had park goers and pass holders a little miffed. But that will end on January 1st, 2021.

Park hopper passes are returning to the land of the mouse! A huge draw of any Disney park in Orlando is the allowance of jumping from one park to another throughout the day. Park hopper ticket options are more expensive but sometimes worth it and for pass holders, park hopping is an almost daily routine, especially for out of town pass holders.

The idea of waking up in the early hours of the morning to line drop at one of the parks, then jumping over to another, before wrapping up your day at say Epcot for the fireworks and dinner, has always been a draw. During the first part of the phased reopening, Disney took away the ability to park jump. Instead, park guests had to register for one park a day provided their was an availability.

Even if one park was not at maximum capacity or even well below capacity, you couldn’t simply jump ship because they park you chose was too busy or the ride you wanted to get on wasn’t operating. It was a shot in the dark and you were out of luck.

Back in October my family and I took a trip to Orlando and were afforded the opportunity to hit the Epcot Food and Wine Festival but our day ended a little quicker than we thought given the low crowds that day. We ended up back at the pool instead of Magic Kingdom. Now we don’t have to worry about that and neither do you.

All of this of course is 100% predicated on the government not shutting down businesses again or asking companies to go back to earlier phased implementations. COVID is still spiking around the country so this great news could eventually come with bad news. For now, no need to worry about the bad, just enjoy the good!
