Rafiki’s Planet Watch Affection Station is opening at Animal Kingdom.
This weekend, Affection Station located at Rafiki’s Planet Watch will open for the first time since Covid shut down at Animal Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom is a pretty cool Disney Park and probably may 2nd favorite of the three. I have taken my kids to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, a walking path accessible after a fun little train ride that ends with Affection Station. A “petty zoo” of sorts where kids can mingle and brush goats.
It may not sound all that fun but to a kid or a parent who is watching their kids interact for the first time, it is. This weekend, you can start taking your kids back.
Honestly, the train ride was always a favorite with side facing rows of seating that allows you a great view of the surrounding plant life and even a quick behnd the scenes peak at some of the medical cages for the animals that live in the Kiliamanjaro Safari area.
The entrance to the train is over by the Africa area and takes about four minutes or so to get Rafiki’s. Once you depart the train you and your kids can stop to learn about different species of animals and insects. There is a fun little search and seek activity where kids can look through vegetation to find insects and animals on an ID card they can check off. It’s designed for younger kids and mine had a good time doing it.
Affection Station is fun and sometimes you get a little lucky. Our last trip featured a head butting display in an effort to establish dominance. It was interesting to watch for sure but we needed to keep the kiddies away just in case.
Overall, it’s good to see that Disney is starting to open up sections of their parks. It was announced earlier this week that the parks have also increased capacity from 25% to 35%.
